PIARC―NVF-avtal

Memorandum of agreement between the World Road Association and the Nordic Road Association

This memorandum of agreement is made by and between the World Road Association (hereafter referred to as PIARC) and the Nordic Road Association (hereafter referred to as NVF). This memorandum of agreement completes the memorandum signed on 1st October 1992.

Whereas:

• the aims of multinational Road Associations are to promote development in the field of road, road traffic and road transport engineering through co-operation between professionals from different countries and the holding of congresses,
• PIARC and NVF both pursue the above objectives and they have to overcome similar obstacles in attaining them, and
• the benefits of each party of sharing contemporary knowledge and application of scientific practices are obviously advantageous,

both parties mutually agree to the following:

1. Both Associations exchange information and their experiences concerning their respective operation and the structure and fields of activity of Committees and Groups:
2. Both Associations share their knowledge and practices and results of the work of their Committees and Groups. Committee and Group members of one of the Association may be invited to the meetings of Committees and Groups of the other Association;
   
3. NVF is entitled to a stand at PIARC Congresses in the same way as the National Committees of PIARC;
4. Likewise, PIARC has the right to be represented free of charge at NVF Congresses;
5. NVF presents its own reports to PIARC Congresses in accordance with the National Report procedures;
6. Representatives of PIARC are invited to NVF Congresses and vice versa;
7. Experience in organizing congresses is shared in discussions between the secretariats of both Associations;
8. The publications of both Association ("Routes/Roads", "NVF-nyt", etc.) may be used mutually for the spreading of information relating to the other party. NVF members wishing to purchase PIARC publications benefit from the reduced price granted to PIARC members;  NVF members wishing to subscribe to PIARC Magazine "Routes/Roads" and PIARC members wishing to subscribe to "NVF-nyt" benefit from a special price set jointly by both parties;
9. In order to strengthen the Secretariat General of PIARC the following member countries of NVF: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden will second a senior staff member to the Secretariat General for one year at a time. It is up to the Nordic countries to determine the succession between the countries and also to appoint representatives. (see also appendix)
